EXCITING ROLE FOR A SENIOR BANKING & FINANCE LAWYER WITH 8 - 10 YEARS PAE TO JOIN A LEADING AUSTRALIAN NON-BANK LENDER
This is an exciting role for a senior banking & finance lawyer with between 8 – 10 PAE to join this leading and forward-thinking Australian non-bank lender and asset management company and play a pivotal role in the growth of its SME lending business.

The Opportunity
Our client is looking to expand its SME lending offering and is looking for an senior banking & finance lawyer for the SME lending business in Australia. This lawyer will play a pivotal role in the execution and management of credit transactions in the company’s SME lending team. primary legal advice and support to the company’s Australian commercial/SME lending team in relation to the originating, structuring and execution of lending transactions with SME borrowers (with a primary focus on real estate and asset financing) and subsequent transaction/client management post-closing.
You will be responsible for providing commercial legal advice to internal stakeholders, contributing to timely execution of transactions, managing legal services provided by external legal counsel, negotiating contractual terms with third parties and advising on ongoing contractual rights and obligations.
Key Requirements
The required experience and expertise for this role include:
- 8 – 10 years PAE in a highly regarded private practice and/or in-house financial services/banking team.
- Significant experience executing lending/credit transactions within the SME market, ideally with real estate and/or asset finance exposure.
- Strong understanding and practical experience of the laws and regulations relevant to SME lending.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills combined with excellent communication skills and attention to detail – both written and verbal.
- Ability to manage multiple projects with the demonstrated adaptability and capacity to thrive in changing environments.
- Excellent leadership and team building skills with the ability to work collaboratively and effectively with executives and senior management.
- Proven ability to work autonomously and with commercial acumen to advise and add value to senior management and stakeholders.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of communicating complex legal matters to non-legal stakeholders including senior executive management.
- Tertiary qualifications in law.
